Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Found Opportunity

Privacy and Data Security

How does Found Opportunity protect my privacy?

We take privacy seriously and follow these principles:

  • Spam folder only: We only access emails in your Spam folder, never your Inbox, Sent, or Drafts
  • 7-day deletion: All opportunity data is automatically deleted after 7 days
  • Read-only access: We can only read emails, never send, delete, or modify them
  • No selling: We never sell, rent, or share your email data with third parties
  • Encrypted transmission: All data is encrypted in transit using industry-standard SSL/TLS

Read our full Privacy Policy for complete details.

Why do you automatically delete data after 7 days?

We believe in minimal data retention. The 7-day window allows our team to review detection accuracy and improve our algorithms while ensuring we don't hold your data longer than necessary. After 7 days, opportunity records (including sender information and email subjects) are permanently deleted from our systems. We believe that this approach complies with GDPR requirements and protects your privacy.

What data do you actually store?

We temporarily store (for 7 days maximum):

  • Email subject lines
  • Sender email addresses
  • Our AI analysis of why it's an opportunity
  • Confidence scores and priority levels

We do NOT store:

  • Full email bodies (processed in real-time, not saved)
  • Email attachments
  • Your email password (we use OAuth tokens only so we don't know what it is)
Are you GDPR compliant?

We implement GDPR privacy principles including data minimization, purpose limitation, and user rights. We believe that our 7-day auto-deletion, spam-only access, and legitimate interest basis for processing align with GDPR requirements. European users have the right to access, correct, and delete their data. See our GDPR Compliance page for complete details.

Detection and Accuracy

What exactly does Found Opportunity scan?

We scan only your Spam folder for emails received in the past 24 hours. We're looking for commission-generating emails that require immediate attention:

  • Client inquiries about your listings
  • Bid/ask updates from buyers or sellers
  • FSBO (For Sale By Owner) inquiries
  • Qualified buyers (cash offers, pre-approved)
  • Agent-to-agent referrals
  • Urgent situations (relocations, divorces, inherited properties)

We filter out:

  • Real estate software sales pitches
  • Marketing services and lead generation offers
  • Industry newsletters and conference invitations
  • Recruiting emails and career opportunities

We do NOT scan your Inbox, Sent folder, Drafts, or any other folders - only Spam.

How accurate is your detection?

Our system is optimized for one goal: never missing a commission opportunity.

Occasionally, sophisticated sales pitches deliberately crafted to look like legitimate client inquiries slip through. These are so well-written that even experienced agents initially think they're real. We're constantly training our system to spot these.

We face a choice: risk missing a real $50,000 commission, or occasionally send you something that takes 10 seconds to delete. We choose protecting your income every time.

Bottom line: We'd rather you delete 1 fake inquiry than miss 1 real deal.

Can I help improve the accuracy?

Yes. Your feedback directly improves our system. If you receive a notification that's not a real opportunity, let us know at inquiries@foundopportunity.com. We use this feedback to train our AI and better distinguish between real opportunities and sophisticated spam.

How often do you scan my email?

We continuously scan your Spam folder for new emails. When we find an opportunity, you'll receive an immediate notification via email and any third-party tools you've integrated using webhooks.

OAuth and Email Connection

What email permissions do you request?

Gmail: We request gmail.readonly scope, which grants read-only access to all folders. However, our application is programmed to access only your Spam folder.

Outlook/Microsoft 365: We request Mail.Read permission, which grants read-only access to all folders. However, our application is programmed to access only your Junk Email folder.

While OAuth grants broader read permissions, we voluntarily limit our access to spam/junk folders only. We cannot send emails, delete emails, or modify your mailbox in any way - the permissions are read-only.

How do I disconnect Found Opportunity from my email?

You can disconnect at any time in two ways:

Method 1: In Found Opportunity (fastest)

  1. Log into your Found Opportunity account
  2. Go to Settings - Email Connection
  3. Click "Disconnect Email"

Method 2: In Gmail/Outlook (most thorough)
